Phoenix residences are commissioned, not purchased. The water should be no different.

The city's finest lots run from the citrus flats of Arcadia to the foothills of the mountain preserves, and they ask different things of the water. On a flat Arcadia acre the program is generous — pool, spa, kitchen, fire and shade composed as one room under mature trees. On a preserve lot it is structural: cut-and-fill, retaining, and an edge that hands Camelback or Piestewa to the house.

This is the work our studio has done across Phoenix since 2008 — including the Camelback commission where a spa was hung on steel beams and supplied by bucket up forty stairs, because the view demanded that spot and no other. We carry design, engineering coordination, and construction as one studio. The people who draw the concept stand in the excavation.

We accept a limited number of commissions each year, and we have never built the same pool twice. In Phoenix, no one has ever asked us to.

What does a custom pool commission cost in Phoenix?
Our commissions typically begin at $1M and are most often part of a larger outdoor program — pool, spa, kitchen, fire, shade, and landscape considered as one composition. We discuss real numbers in the first consultation, against your lot and your architecture, not against a price sheet.
How involved will I need to be?
As involved as you wish. Many clients work with us through their architect, builder, or estate manager; we are accustomed to being one discreet, coordinated part of a larger team. You will always have a single point of contact within our studio.
Can you build on a hillside lot?
Hillside sites are where our best work lives. Elevated lots make vanishing-edge and knife-edge designs possible, and they demand the structural engineering, retaining, and drainage work we coordinate as part of design — not as a mid-construction surprise.
Who designs the pool?
The studio principal and our in-house design team — the same studio featured on DIY Network's Pool Kings and in Watershapes. No franchised plan sets. No reused concepts. Your commission begins as a blank page.
Why does the engineering matter so much?
Because the difference between a luxury pool and a remarkable one is measured in millimeters. A knife-edge that reads as a single plane of water, an overflow slot that is silent instead of loud, a surface that holds still in wind — these are hydraulic and structural decisions made early, by people who have made them for two decades.
Do you work alongside architects on new construction?
Yes, and we prefer to arrive early. Structural water is best conceived with the residence, not after it.
